Mexico - Belize - Guatemala - Honduras - El Salvador Day 1
Arriving by road from Guatemala's TIKAL: Met at the Guatemala/Belize border. After immigration and customs, short drive to the Terminal Classic ceremonial center of Xunantunich, known as "the Castle," a 135-foot-tall temple. Twenty-five masonry structures built around six plazas can be seen. Lunch and sodas on site. Visit the sacred Maya caves of Che Chem Ha. Dinner and overnight at Five Sisters Lodge in the heart of the Maya Mountain Forest Reserve.

Day 2
After an early breakfast drive through the scenic route of the Cayo District to the Lowland Maya settlement of Caracol ("snail"), where extensive excavation and restoration is taking place. More than 120,000 people lived in this metropolis and its many pyramids, roadways and terraced fields. Admire the platform of Caana - Sky Place, the tallest in Belize (140 feet). Lunch and sodas on site. Visit the small Classic Maya town of Cahal Pech, the Castle on the Hill, and wander through the courtyards, passageways and rooms. Overnight at the Five Sisters Lodge or in Belize City's Radisson Fort George Hotel.

Day 3
Land transfer to the most excavated Classic Maya ceremonial and trade center in Belize: Altun Ha on the Northern Highway. Visit the two main plazas and about thirteen temples and residential structures, including the Temple of the Sun God. Lunch and sodas on site. Afternoon free to visit and shop in downtown Belize or just relax, swim or work out at the Radisson Hotel.

Day 4
Today a river cruise and a visit to Lamanai will make your day an event to remember. This city was occupied from ca. 1500 B.C. to the 19th century. A well preserved Late Classic temple (ca. 100 B.C.) can be seen. A motorized canoe will take you through mangroves and creeks to appreciate the orchids, butterflies, birds and small crocodiles. Return to Belize City and overnight at the Radisson Hotel. You may also start this tour in Chetumal, Mexico; or in Belize City.
