Suggested 7 Day Itinerary - Havana & Trinidad




	Suggested 7 Day Itinerary - Havana & Trinidad Day 1 US Gateway/Cancun/Havana We will meet in Cancun and continue on to Havana. Upon arrival in Havana we will be met by a private coach and continue to the Nacional Hotel. Enjoy a private check-in and Cuban welcome with music and refreshments. Nacional Hotel. Day 2 Breakfast. 9:30 AM our air-conditioned coach will pick us up at our hotel for a guided tour of El Capitolio and then followed by a tour and lecture at a Partagas Cigar Factory concerning the history of cigar making. Afterwards we will proceed to La Mina restaurant in Old Havana, located in a 1700's colonial home. Lunch will be served in the patio. After lunch, we will take a guided walking tour of Old Havana with emphasis on the architecture. We will return by coach to the hotel by 5pm. The coach will pick us up at 7:30pm. We will proceed to Ambos Mundos hotel for a welcome cocktail party and dinner buffet, with live music, on the terrace overlooking the Havana skyline. The bus will return to our hotel by 11:30PM. (B/L/D) Day 3 Our coach will pick us up after breakfast at 9:30 for our morning guided city tour of Havana which will be an extensive overview of the city's monuments, plazas, University of Havana, etc. We will stop for lunch at El Mercurio in Old Havana. After lunch, (2PM) we will proceed to the outdoor flea markets where you can shop amongst the hundreds of booths set up with a wide variety of goods from crocheted garments to pottery to carved pieces. We will then go to the Havana Club (famous Rum factory) for a lecture on the history and manufacture of Rum and its place in the cultural life of Cuba and a tasting. We will return to our hotel to get ready for dinner by 7PM. Our coach will then take us to El Morro, which is a Havana landmark. We will tour El Morro and then witness the cannon ceremony which occurs each evening at 9pm. Immediately afterwards, we will enjoy a festive dinner and music on the grounds of El Morro. (B/L/D) Day 4 The Ernest Hemingway Day. Our famed US author loved Cuba and spent many years enjoying this beautiful country. After breakfast (9:30AM) our coach will take us to the Hemingway Museum, home of the author where we'll have a private guided tour. The museum houses some 6,000 books, a research center for Latin American literature and an extensive collection of trophies, etc. Return to hotel. Lunch and afternoon on your own. Nacional Hotel for a gala farewell evening event - the dinner show at Le Parisien, (7:30PM) the fore runner of Las Vegas show extravaganzas. (B,D) Day 5 Trinidad. We will leave our hotel after breakfast and coach to Trinidad. We will have lunch in a beautiful "Covadonga" seafood restaurant on the Bay of Cienfuegos. After a leisurely lunch, we will continue on our journey, arriving at our hotel by 3:30PM. At 4:30PM, we will take an overview walking tour of the city of Trinidad; the historical section is restricted to pedestrians only. We will walk to a charming restaurant for cocktails and dinner. After dinner, we will enjoy a local music and dance presentation at Casa de la Musica. Location to depend on the entertainment schedule. Overnight in Trinidad. (B/L/D) Day 6 Trinidad. 9:30AM After breakfast, we will have an extensive guided tour by the city historian. Included in the tour will be visits to Trinidad Municipal Museum, Guamuhaya Archaeological Museum, Museum of the Architecture of Trinidad, Romantic Museum, Museum of the Struggle against Bandit Bands, Plaza Mayor, and the church of Santa Ana and walk along calle Simon Bolivar. At lunch, we will also hear a historical lecture. 2PM Board the coach for the return to Havana. 7PM We will arrive back at th4e Nacional Hotel for a free evening. (B/L) Day 7 Havana. After breakfast we will take the coach to La Cienega to de Zapata, a region of marshes and bayous. There is also a wonderful animal sanctuary. We will visit a replica of an old Indian community existing from Christopher Columbus day. Lunch at the village. Return to Havana for a free afternoon. Gala Farewell Dinner at the Nacional Hotel. (B/L/D) Day 8 Morning at leisure. Coach departs for airport at 12:30 pm. Deluxe farewell departure at VIP lounge at airport for flight to Cancun.
