Suggested 7 Day Itinerary

Havana, Santiago de Cuba or Pinar del Rio
Day 1
US Gateway/Cancun/Havana
We will meet in Cancun and continue on to Havana at 9:05AM. Upon arrival
at 11:55AM in Havana we will be met by a private coach and continue to
the Nacional Hotel. Enjoy a private check-in and Cuban welcome with music
and refreshments. Nacional Hotel.
Day 2
Breakfast. 9:30 AM
our air-conditioned coach will pick us up at our hotel for a visit to
a Child Care Center followed by a tour at Partagas Cigar Factory.
Afterwards we will proceed to La Mina restaurant in Old Havana,
located in a 1700's colonial home. Lunch will be served in the patio.
After lunch, we will take a guided walking tour of Old Havana with
emphasis on the architecture. We will return by coach to the hotel by
5pm. The coach will pick us up at 7:30pm. We will proceed to Ambos
Mundos hotel for a welcome cocktail party and dinner buffet, with
live music, on the terrace overlooking the Havana skyline. The bus will
return to our hotel by 11:30PM. Overnight at the Nacional Hotel. (B/L/Cocktail)
Day 3
Our coach will pick
us up after breakfast at 9:30 for our morning guided city tour
of Havana which will be an extensive overview of the city's monuments,
plazas, University of Havana, etc. We will stop for lunch at El Mercurio
in Old Havana. After lunch, (2PM) we will proceed to the outdoor flea
markets where you can shop amongst the hundreds of booths set up with
a wide variety of goods from crocheted garments to pottery to carved pieces.
We will then go to the Havana Club Museum (famous Rum factory)
and a tasting. We will return to our hotel to get ready by 7PM. Our coach
will then take us to El Morro, which is a Havana landmark. We will tour
El Morro and then witness the cannon ceremony which occurs each evening
at 9pm. Dinner on your own. Overnight at the Nacional Hotel. (B/L)
Day 4
The Ernest Hemingway
Day. Our famed US author loved Cuba and spent many years enjoying
this beautiful country. After breakfast (9:30AM) our coach will take us
to the Hemingway Museum, home of the author where we'll have a
private guided tour. The museum houses some 6,000 books, a research center
for Latin American literature and an extensive collection of trophies,
etc. We will then return to the Hotel Nacional for lunch at poolside.
After a box lunch, (2:30PM) we will continue onto the Hemingway Marina
and to the Club Havana, the most exclusive Club in Havana for beverages
and a leisurely rest. Return to Nacional Hotel. Tonight there is
an optional activity: dinner show at Le Parisien, (7:30PM) the fore runner
of Las Vegas show extravaganzas. Overnight at the Nacional Hotel (B/box
lunch)
Optional Cultural Activities
Beginning today you
may select a two day most interesting tour to Santiago de Cuba (Option
1), a two-day visit to Pinar del Rio ecological region (Option 2) or just
stay in Havana and enjoy the enchantment of the city (Option 3).
Day 5
Option 1: To Santiago
de Cuba
Morning at leisure. Flight to Santiago de Cuba in the afternoon. Flight
time to be confirmed. Transfer to the Casa Grande Hotel in the center
of town. Santiago, the "Hero City", is the most cultural city
in the Caribbean at the foothills of Sierra Maestra and the most important
area in the Route of the Salve. (B/D?)
Option 2: Pinar
del Rio
West of Havana in the relaxed ecological area, home of the traditional
famous Cuban tobacco; refined, elegant and treasured by the connoisseurs!
The geology of the region has unique formations; mogotes, limestone mountains
in Vinales. Overnight at Hotel La Ermita, all rooms with a wonderful view.
Option 3: Havana
- Day 1
Time at leisure. Overnight at the Nacional Hotel.
Day 6
Option 1: Santiago
de Cuba
Morning visit to El Morro, built in 1710 has barracks, labyrinths and
dark inner cells which once housed the slaves in transit. Lunch at the
Santiago Hotel. Continue to la Virgen del Cobre Basilica, stop for a baseball
demonstration of the youngest team in the village of el Cobre and end
with a visit to Jose Marti Mausoleum at the Cemetery. Cocktails at a private
art gallery, owned by a local ceramist. Visit la Casa de la Trova, a place
where music invites you to enjoy the afro-Cuban rhythms surrounded by
wonderful people who enjoy and recognize your visit. (B/L)
Option 2: Pinar
del Rio
Today a visit de Cueva de Vinales, a limestone cave. On another cave you
will walk to an underground river and a boatman will take you for a five
minute ride. Don't miss it! After lunch return to Havana.
Option 3: Havana
- Day 2
Time at leisure. Overnight at the Nacional Hotel.
Day 7
Option 1: Santiago
de Cuba
Day at leisure to visit the city, art gallery and enjoy the town. After
Lunch visit the Velasquez Museum, a pre-baroque building with Moorish
balconies and most interesting collections of tapestries, painting and
antiques. Farewell dinner. Return flight to Havana and overnight at the
Nacional Hotel. (B/D?)
Option 2: After
breakfast: Pinar del Rio to Havana
Time at leisure. Overnight at the Nacional Hotel.
Option 3: Havana
- Day 3
Overnight at the Nacional Hotel.
Day 8
Transfer to the airport
for return flight home via Cancun. Farewell to Cuba at the Jose Marti
International Airport. (B)
